EMVPARTY discussion: Safeguard killswitch

Counterparty can always emergency hard fork without a killswitch, right? This seems to be how Ethereum is approaching it as well:

This is the cost of trusting Ethereum’s developers to deliver a solid solution. Throwing in a killswitch when not even Ethereum themselves have one is tantamount to a vote of no confidence in the EVM on Counterparty.

I think the problem is that people are doing most of their counterparty testing on mainnet … we need to convince people to test their products on testnet.

a possible problem with the killswitch might also be legality, being ‘in control’ of a financial system is not really a great position to be in xD
